Julie has been painting and drawing for over 30 years and has won numerous awards throughout that time, including Honours in Art & Design awarded in 1991.
Born in Australia in 1964, Julie spent some time painting high up on Pirongia Mountain, Waikato, and is now living in the incredibly scenic Rangitikei River region of New Zealand.
Predominantly Julie is self taught. She enjoys working with the simplicity of monochromatic tones pushing the effects of light and shade to their extremes.
In the month of May this Year (2007) we were very excited to move further South and open up our new Gallery right on State Highway 1 in the small historical township of Mangaweka (20 minutes south of Taihape).
Now open at The River Centre on State Highway 1 in Mangaweka. New Home of the Fine Artworks on Antique Sawblades. Located 50meters north of DC3 Aeroplane & Café Stop. Julie Oliver in residence 7 days a week. A great opportunity to see the works, and speak to the artist as these pieces are being created. Warm fire, great space!
